Privacy Policy

Last updated: 14 September 2026

Words have power, and so does information about the people who read them. We collect very little, we are specific about why, and we would rather explain it clearly once than bury it in language nobody reads.

Who we are

Katali Studio is the public name of Katali Studio Inc., a federally incorporated Canadian company based in Ontario. We publish books. This policy covers katali.studio and any email you send us.

We are governed by the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Our accountable person for privacy can be reached at hello@katali.studio.

What we collect

If you use the contact form. Your name, email address, subject line, and message. We collect these because we cannot reply otherwise.

If you accept analytics. Google Analytics records pages viewed, time spent on each, how you arrived (a search, a social link, a direct visit), which external links you click, your approximate location at city level, and your device type, browser, and language. It does not record your name, your email, or anything you type. We have not enabled Google Signals, so no demographic or advertising profile is built.

Automatically, by our host. Hostinger keeps standard server logs, including IP addresses and timestamps, for security and diagnostics. This happens on every website in the world and is not something either of us opts into.

Nothing else. We do not run advertising, we do not use tracking pixels, we do not sell books directly from this site, and we have no account system. There is no profile of you here, because there is nowhere to keep one.

Who else sees it

We share information only with the services that make the site work.

Google (Google LLC, United States) — analytics, and the typefaces the site is set in. Data is processed on Google infrastructure outside Canada.

Web3Forms — delivers contact form submissions to our inbox. Submissions pass through their servers and are retained there for up to 30 days before automatic deletion. Web3Forms operates from India on infrastructure outside Canada.

Hostinger — hosts the site and its server logs.

We do not sell your information. We do not trade it, rent it, or hand it to anyone for marketing. If we are ever legally compelled to disclose something, we will tell you unless prohibited from doing so.

Where it goes

Information handled by the services above is stored and processed outside Canada, primarily in the United States. This means it may be accessible to foreign courts and authorities under the laws of those countries. We tell you this because PIPEDA requires transparency about it, and because you deserve to know before you type anything.

How long we keep it

WhatHow long
Analytics data14 months, then automatically deleted by Google
Contact form submissions (in transit)Up to 30 days at Web3Forms
Your message in our inboxUntil it is no longer needed, or until you ask us to delete it
Server logsPer Hostinger’s standard retention

Your choices

You may decline analytics at any time, through the banner or the Cookie preferences link in the footer. Declining changes nothing about your experience of the site.

You may ask what we hold about you, and we will tell you.

You may ask us to correct or delete anything we hold. Write to us and we will act within thirty days.

You may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if you believe we have handled your information improperly. We would rather you told us first, but the route is yours.

Children

This site is written for the adults who buy our books, and it is not directed at children, including where a title is written for younger readers. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us something through the contact form, write to us and we will delete it.

Security

Everything travels over HTTPS. Our service providers encrypt data at rest. No system is perfect, and we will not claim otherwise — but we have deliberately kept the amount of information here small, which is the most effective protection available.

Changes

We will update this page when our practices change and revise the date above. If a change is significant, we will ask for your consent again rather than assume it.
